Visconti Tarot

An absolutely stunning display of lavish gold foil and exquisite Renaissance art, this deck is pure magic and mystery! The shimmering gold gilding on the fronts of the cards reflect the light, seducing the intuition and delighting the eye. This deck is a treasure, truly a must-have for all Tarot enthusiasts. Originally commissioned in 1450 by the Duke of Milan, and attributed to Bonifacio Bembo, this is a reproduction of the oldest known surviving Tarot cards in existence and so their historical importance is enormous.

Today, the originals are partially housed at the Pierpont Morgan Library in New York, partially at the Accademia Carrara in Bergamo, and partially in the private collection of the Colleoni family of Bergamo. Almost all the hundreds of different packs of Tarot cards available today are descended from and influenced by the Visconti Tarot. The Visconti Tarot has been restored for the first time and printed with gold to enhance its original splendour.
